Gearing up for Origins Game Fair

It's close to that time again when we will be heading to Columbus, OH to help MindGame Productions put on the best show at Origins Game Fair: US Marine Space Corps (USMSC) Interplanetary - an airsoft LARP event. This is a welcome break for us from the daily grind, and has a surprising amount of overlap with what we do at DarkThreads. It's all about the gear.

So, what does a marine in the USMSC wear, anyway?

Seriously, though, this pattern is also worn by many other real-life LE and military units. Other important parts of the uniform include: protective eyewear, for which we have an abundant selection. Flying Buffalo Releases New 'Poker Deck'

Following on a tradition it started in 2008, Flying Buffalo Inc. has announced the imminent release of its third-annual "Poker Deck" promotion.

"Each year I honor four famous game designers by making them a 'king' in my poker deck," said Flying Buffalo's Rick Loomis. "The other 48 cards are advertisements from various game companies, game stores, game artists, and game conventions."

The company will be producing 6,000 of these decks and using them as part of an associated game it will be running in conjunction with the various advertisers in the deck.

Skirmisher Publishing LLC will appear as the 3 of Clubs in the deck and will be participating in the "Poker Deck" games at both Origins and Gen Con. Skirmisher will also have a special freebie for anyone with one of the Poker Decks who comes by its booth as part of the promotional game.

meet Ganesha Games at Origins 2009

This is Ganesha's program at Origins 2009 (Columbus, OH, June 24th to 28th). Make sure you come at our tables if you attend, and please vote for our Song of Drums and Shakos napoleonic skirmish rules in the Best Historical Miniature Rules award. All our events are ongoing -- short scenarios repeated during the day, so check the Origins guide for details and hours.


Wednesday and Thursday
Fear and Faith demo game. Zombie survivors must recover a crate of grenades in a zombie-infested area.

Song of Drums and Shakos demo game. A meeting engagement near a village.
The SDS scenario will be repeated every day with different forces.

Wednesday Night:
Playtest game of Tales of Blades and Heroes, the RPG based on SBH.

Friday
Multiplayer Mutants and Death Ray Guns scenarios (two, one ran by Ganesha and another by another GM)
SDS meeting engagement scenario.
Tales of Blades and Heroes playtest in the night.

Saturday and Sunday
"Song of Blades for Dummies", an introductory scenario aimed at new players;
SDS meeting engagement.

Also remember that there will be other SBH and MDRG tables in the miniature hall, and that Splintered Light Miniatures will be demoing Song of the Splintered Lands.

Ganesha Games demos at Origins 2008

Just a quick note to confirm that I'll be running demos of Song of Blades and Heroes and its post-apocalyptic cousin Mutants and Death Ray Guns at Origins Game Fair 2008 (June 25th-28th, Columbus, OH). Look for our demo table in the Miniature Hall. The demos will run every day.

Even if you don't have time to play (an average game is just 40 minutes), I'll have a few SBH bookmarks to give away (they are not just bookmarks, they are used as measuring sticks in the game).
